Justin James Patrick Mullin was born on 19/4/1887, the second child of Dr James Mullin and Annie Mullin. He was educated at the Intermediate School, Cardiff. He joined the army and spent two years at Aldershot, then was transferred to the 12th Lancers. He was sent to India. While in India, there was an outbreak of enteric fever, now called typhoid fever. It was believed that Justin Mullin caught the fever as a consequence of visiting a friend in hospital, which was against the regulations, but it is now known that it is spread by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. He died on 8/9/1908 at the age of 21.
